Veldt Battles is a ruleset designed to recreate small- and medium-sized engagements from the Boer War that was fought between the British Empire and the Boer republics from 1899 to 1903.
The system uses a square grid to simplify movement and speed play. For aesthetic reasons only the corners of the squares need be marked. Stands of figures are grouped into units. To keep things fluid stands of the same unit do not all have to occupy the same square at the same time. Groups of stands can combine for a single combat result, greatly speeding play. Veldt Battles is currently undergoing playtesting and will be available by the end of 2018. In the meantime we will post more battle reports like the one below and give more details of the game's mechanisms as they continue to be refined. |
